‘Siyo,
On Thursday evening, April 20, the Cherokee Nation’s At Large satellite community in Oklahoma City, the Central Oklahoma Cherokee Alliance (COCA), will be hosting a live and livestreamed forum to hear from the four At Large Tribal Council candidates who are on the ballot for the June 3, 2023 election. This will be COCA’s fourth bi-annual forum held for every election since 2017. It usually has a livestream audience of several thousand and is viewed later by many more!
For citizens in the OKC area who would like to attend in person, the forum will be held in Ballroom B of the Student Union on the campus of Rose State College. The address is 6420 SE 15th Street in Midwest City, Oklahoma 73110. More information on the location can be found at www.Rose.edu. (I have attached a campus map, and the Student Union is circled in red.) Doors will open at 6PM and the live stream via Facebook (Central Oklahoma Cherokee Alliance – COCA) begins at 6:30PM Central time.
Each candidate will have the opportunity to make an opening statement and a closing statement. There will be seven questions that will be presented for a response from each candidate as well. This is a forum, not a debate.
The absentee ballots will be mailed out about four days after this event, so this is a great opportunity to hear from the four candidates just before voting begins. Hope you will take the time to attend either in person or online!
Best wishes,
Julia
