COUNCIL CANDIDATES NEEDED
‘Siyo nigadv,
Covid-19 in 2020 prevented the Colorado Cherokee’s from having gatherings in person but we were still able to see each other via Zoom. The Council also continued to have meetings to plan for Gatherings and to discuss ways to help our community. It would be great if others would step up and volunteer to serve on the council. The council meetings are generally less than one hour, via Zoom, and usually held the second Thursday of the month.
There are seven positions on the Colorado Cherokee Circle Council :
Council Coordinator
Public Relations
Records Keeper
Treasurer
Membership
General Meeting Coordinators (2)
Not all Council slots will be filled. There will be some carry over of persons on the Council for continuity.
Council member duties are defined in the attached copy of the CoCC By Laws.
All individual members of the Colorado Cherokee Circle who are in good standing are eligible to serve on the Council. Individual member, person who is eighteen (18) years of age or older and is residing in a household and is in good standing with the CoCC.
Council members serve for a term of two years with a limit to two consecutive terms. Only one member per household may serve at any give time.
Deadline for announcing candidacy is June 19, 2021.
Each candidate will be asked to provide a biographical sketch of 200 words or less to be included with the ballots mailed to all eligible voters. This date is defined in the By Laws to give the voting membership, 18 years and older, time to review the candidates.
Mailed-in ballots will be open at the Colorado Cherokee Circle meeting on September 18, 2021, and winners will be announced at that time.
Specific positions with corresponding duties on the Council are decided by the newly elected Council after the election.
