In 2021, we launched the “ᏣᎳᎩ: Wherever We Are” virtual event series. We’ve held nine great discussions about young Cherokees, our COVID-19 pandemic response, the great outdoors, Cherokee women, our legislative priorities, Cherokee language, Cherokee spirituality, Cherokee Removal, and Cherokee Freedmen. (Did you miss any of them? You can still catch these events on the Cherokee Nation YouTube channel.)
Our values and traditions have led our people through the best and worst of times. They are a gift to each new generation and a path to living well.
From ᎦᏚᎩ gadugi (people coming together as one and working to help one another) to ᎾᏂᎥ ᏴᏫ ᏕᏣᏠᏯᏍᏗᏍᎨᏍᏗ nani’v yvwi detsatloyasdisgesdi (include everyone, all humankind; however many), our community values remain as important and relevant as ever. We hope you’ll join us to discuss these values and traditions (and many more) on Saturday, March 26 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
Chief of Staff Corey Bunch will host this event, which will also feature remarks from Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr., Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner, and special guests including spiritual advisor Crosslin Smith, Cherokee Language Master/Apprentice Program Manager Ryan Mackey, and cultural advisor Dawni Squirrel.
I’ll be back in touch soon with more details about our 3/26 event. I hope to see you next Saturday!
Wado (Thank you),
